Our Top 10 Through Week 2

  1. Ohio State
2-0 beat Hawaii 38-0
They started slow but got the job done. Jones and Barrett didn't had solid games throwing. Eliot was the main focal point of the Buckeye offense this week as he rushed for 101 yards and 3 td’s. Braxton Miller also got some carries in and ran for 57 yards. The defense caused 4 turnovers and only allowed 165 yards of offense for Hawaii. Ohio State looks solid all around and they will be tough to beat in the regular season as they don't play anyone that great except for Michigan State later this year.
  1. Alabama
2-0 beat MTSU 37-10
Alabama moved the football well against MTSU. They had 532 yards of total offense and 28 first downs for the game. Coker had an average game throwing for 214 yards and 1 td. Henry ran for 96 yards and 3 td’s but was well rested during the game. Alabama’s defense looked good. Only allowing them 86 yards total. Alabama will be tested next week against Mississippi.
  1. TCU
2-0 beat SFA 70-7
Boykin and TCU throttled SF Austin. They had 627 yards of total offense and looked great everywhere. Boykin had a great game throwing for 285 yards and 4 td’s. TCU’s defense only allowed them to get 8 first downs and 167 yards total for the game. Only giving up that much is great against any team. They also forced three turnovers in a dominating performance.
  1. Michigan State
2-0 beat Oregon 31-28
Michigan State with a big win this past week. The offense looked okay against Oregon but they relied on their defense to win a close game. They stopped Oregon's rushing attack only allowing 2.9 yards per attempt. Oregon had an okay time passing but 2 int thrown by Adams didn't help. Michigan State proved with this win that they are the real deal and can win in a close game.
  1. Baylor
2-0 beat Lamar 66-31
Baylor put up 785 yards this week. They are explosive is all areas with Russell throwing for 342 yards and 4 td’s. Linwood ran for 130 yards and 3 td’s. Coleman caught for 182 yards and 4 td’s. Turnovers could cause a problem for Baylor down the road though as they had 4 of them. The defense could also have problems as they have given up a lot of points to two very average teams.
  1. USC
2-0 beat Idaho 59-9
They can score points. Cody Kessler has looked great throwing for 7 td’s and 0 int. The running backs have looked good with Jones and Madden rushing for 312 yards and 5 td’s. Defense hasn't been tested that much but so far they have looked good in all areas. USC is looking to go far this year and they have the tools to do it finally.
  1. Georgia
2-0 beat Vanderbilt 31-14
Georgia has showed us in these two weeks that they are gonna run the football. They have one the best running backs in the country in Nick Chubb and they are going to put their team behind him. They have had 6 different people run the ball in two games and have only passed it 39 times in two games. The defense has looked good in the two games so far but they level of play in those teams was pretty low.
  1. Florida State
2-0 beat South Florida 34-14
Offense looks great. With Golson at Quarterback and Cook at running back this team could be hard to stop. Cook ran for 266 yards and 3 td’s turning himself into a legitimate heisman candidate. Florida State's defense could have a little trouble though. They gave up 149 yards to a sub par team. Penalties could also cause some concern later in the year as they had 7 of them for 50 yards. Their offense might have to carry them this year.
  1. Clemson
2-0 beat Appalachian State 41-10
Deshaun Watson can lead Clemson as far as he wants this year. He is a great quarterback with the ability to get out of the pocket as well. He may need a little help from the offensive line sometimes but if they hold up this will be a dangerous Clemson offense with Watson, Gallman, and Scott. The defense still hasn't played against an offense with much power so there are still some questions there.
  1. Notre Dame
2-0 beat Virginia 34-27
Yes Notre Dame won and that's all that matters but it wasn't a pretty win. They came back in the final quarter to shock Virginia. Notre Dame will be tested next week when they play Georgia Tech. They will have to get the win on the shoulders of their inexperienced quarterback DeShone Kizer. He looked good against Virginia when he came in for the injured Malik Zaire but can he play like that for a whole game?
