Our Top 10 Running Backs in College Football

  1. Nick Chubb
Georgia 5’10 220lbs
Probably one of the most explosive running backs in college football. Nick Chubb is going to be relied on a lot this season as last season he rushed for 1,5447 yards and 14TD’s along with 213 yards in receiving and 2 more TD’s. Last year he was a backup to Todd Gurley but when he was suspended he came in and definitely made the best of his opportunities. After seeing what he could do as a freshmen people are certainly wondering what he can do as a full time starter and being a sophmore.
  1. Ezekiel Elliott
Ohio State 6’0 225lbs
Coming off a national championship the only thing Elliott wants to do is repeat that performance and claim the Heisman. Last season will be hard to beat as he rushed for 1,878 yards and had 18TD’s along with 220 yards of receiving. If anyone can repeat that performance it's Elliott. He will have another solid offensive line and great quarterbacks to work with the only thing he has to worry about is Braxton Miller taking some of his carries. Either way it should be another great season for him and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
  1. Leonard Fournette
LSU 6’1 225lbs
He has been a star ever since he stepped foot on the field. He started at running back on varsity as a freshman and compiled over 7,000 yards in his high school career. He was one of the most talked up running backs in college football. It took him a couple weeks last year to get rolling but once he did he was spectacular. Last year he rushed for 1,034 yards and 10TD’s. This season he already has 387 yards and 6TD’s in 2 games for the Tigers and he is looking to keep on rolling and become a real heisman candidate.
  1. Derrick Henry
Alabama 6’3 242lbs
He in one of the biggest running backs in college football and he is a load to bring down. He has slimmed down a little bit as last season he rushed for 990 yards and 11TD’s. You would think that being as big as he is that he wouldn't be as fast but lucky for the defense he was a track star in high school. Defenses are going to have all they can handle with him this year and he looks to lead Alabama to the playoffs.
  1. Dalvin Cook
Florida State 5’11 202lbs
Last year Cook was a solid running back. He split the carries with Karlos Williams who was also a solid running back. This year Cook will be the main back and looks to have a breakout season and become a heisman candidate. He is a fast powerful back who carried for 1,008 yards last season and 8TD’s. He also had 203 yards in receptions making him a great versatile back. We should all be looking forward to see what Cook will do this season for Florida State.
  1. Samaje Perine
Oklahoma 5’10 230lbs
Can he repeat last years performance? He holds the most rushing yards in one game at 427 yards. He also rushed for 1,713 yards and 21TD’s last season and averaged 6.5 yards per carry. Oklahoma can give them the ball as much as they want as long as he can produce. Thye have a great Quarterback in Baker Mayfield so they might not need to run the ball as much this year but only time will tell.
  1. James Conner
Pittsburgh 6’2 240lbs
Yes he had a surgery and is out for a couple games this season but he is still going to be a great running back. Last season he rushed for 1,765 yards and 26TD’s. He also rushed for 5.9 yards a carry. He isn't a dual threat running back but he is a big. At 6’2 240, he is a load to bring down and especially once he picks up some speed. Hopefully he can fully recover from his MCL surgery and have another stellar season.
  1. Devontae Booker
Utah 5’11 212lbs
Booker is looking to have another great season in his final season. Last year he transferred to Utah and had a great year. He rushed for 1,512 yards and 10TD’s. He averaged 4.1 yards a carry. That isn't the best number in college football but it's still a good one and that means he got his carries. He also received for 306 yards which is good because he keeps the defense honest. Look for another great season from Booker.
  1. Royce Freeman
Oregon 5’11 230lbs
Royce Freeman will be looked at to carry a heavy load for the Oregon offence this year. Without Heisman winner Marcus Mariota he will have to step up a little more this season. Last year he was only a freshman and ran for 1,365 yards and 18TD’s while averaging 5.6 yards per carry for the Oregon offense. Last year he was known as the power back as Oregon had Marshall and Tyner taking some of the carries as well. This year should be a great one for Freeman.
  1. Paul Perkins
UCLA 5’11 210lbs
He was a great running back last for not getting very much recognition. The offense needed some help with the only person they could turn to was Brett Hundley until Perkins had a breakout season last year. He led the Pac-12 in rushing with 1,575 yards and he averaged 6.3 yards per carry. He is also good catching passes in the flats which makes for a good versatile threat.
