Most Improved Teams This Season
- Utah
Coming into the season of the radar they have turned a few heads so far this season. Their first game against michigan didn't look that impressive until a couple weeks later when they dismantled Oregon at Autzen stadium. Utah's defense is great as they only give up 18 points a game and they have also gone up against some quality offences. An offense built around a great senior quarterback in Wilson and a superstar back in Booker will be hard to stop later in the season.
- Stanford
After losing to a great Northwestern team early in the year a lot of people had given up on them but they didn't stop. They beat a solid Oregon State team and upset #6 USC. When Hogan plays good the team plays good or so it has seemed this year for the Cardinals. With Oregon slipping a little bit this season it has gave Stanford a chance to win the Pac-12 North.
- Oklahoma State
They haven't played anyone that great and have looked sluggish in a couple of their games but they are still 5-0. They have showed that they can pull out close victories as they have had to do it twice this season already against sub par opponents in Texas and Kansas State. Next week they will have a challenge as they play West Virginia who is a solid team.
- Northwestern
They have a great defense one of the best in the nation and they’re running game isn’t bad either. They have played a couple decent teams but we’ll know more about the Cats following games against top-25 foes Michigan and Iowa, the nation’s No. 13 team looks very impressive right now at 5-0. They’re a lock to break the postseason drought and will challenge for the Big Ten West title.
- North Carolina
After a disappointing loss in the season opener against South Carolina this team has gotten better. They have won the rest of their games and quarterback Williams has been great. The game against Georgia Tech was an impressive win as the defence has looked great all year even in the loss they still looked good.
- Michigan
The return of Harbaugh has been special. They did lose their opener and what did look like a bad lose has turned into something that wasn't so bad as Utah has soared up to #5 in the country. The defense has looked great only allowing 14 points total in their last 4 games. The offence is led by Iowa transfer Jake Rudock and has looked average but only time will tell if they turn into a playoff contender.
- Iowa
They have looked very impressive this season pulling off wins against everyone they've played and an impressive win against #19 Wisconsin. The “New Kirk” has been great as well. Ferentz seems more open and willing to try fake field goals and go for fourth downs deep in his own territory. His team has responded with physical play and earned the program’s first top 25 ranking since 2010. At 5-0, the Hawks can be a force in the Big Ten West.
- Georgia Southern
They got dismantled in their season opener against West Virginia. Coach Willie Fritz’s team didn’t shutdown. Georgia Southern is 4-0 since, averaging 46.5 points per game. GSU averages 377.4 yards rushing per game, tops nationally, and still ranks No. 28 nationally in scoring despite the shutout. That’s impressive, as is tailback Matt Brieda’s 738 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Brieda averages an incredible 10.1 yards per carry.
- Florida
They have found a way to win every game. They didnt look as impressive in their first couple of games and they still had a couple question. After beating Tennessee they looked like a serious team. After they beat Ole Miss, they look like on of the teams to beat. They still have a lot of games left but so far so good for the Gators.
